Two San Dimas High School Students Arrested for Hacking School’s Computer to Change Grades

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau detectives responded to San Dimas High School at 800 West Covina Blvd, San Dimas Thursday, June 4, regarding a cybercrime investigation.

The students were allegedly charging other students up to $500 (according to a local television news report) to change the grades of students.

Detectives have reported that at approximately 11:30 a.m., San Dimas Station’s resource deputy was notified by the administrative staff of San Dimas High School that students at the school had gained unauthorized access to secure information on the school’s computer network using the school’s internet website and successfully changed some sensitive information.

During the course of the investigation, two adult students were arrested for unauthorized computer access and fraud.

The extent of the intrusion is under investigation.
