A former Los Angeles police officer who fled to Mexico following an off-duty shooting in March is awaiting arraignment on murder and other charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Henry Solis (DOB 7/29/87) was to be arraigned Friday at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Department 30. He is charged in case BA434593 with one count of murder and one count of assault with a firearm. The complaint includes a special allegation that Solis personally discharged a handgun. He is being held on $2 million bail. Deputy District Attorneys Kimberly Toney and Sandi Roth with the Justice System Integrity Division are prosecuting the case. Solis allegedly got into a fight with Salome Rodriguez on March 13 outside a bar in Pomona, chased the man down and fatally shot him. Solis, who had been with the LAPD less than a year, fled the scene and was arrested last month in Mexico. If convicted, Solis faces up to life in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the Pomona Police Department.
