The South Pasadena Public Library will present a free Job Search workshop, featuring Keynote Speaker Michael Johnson, in the Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 30.

This event will focus on Career Transition and Advancement. Michael Johnson will share his insights on the current search process from the Executive Search and company/client point of view and identify ways for job search candidates to stand out through that process. Library staff will also be on hand to present some of the job-searching databases and other free career resources available to South Pasadena Public Library card holders, including books in the Job Information Center (JIC) collection, a dedicated Foothill Workforce Investment Board (FWIB) Job Search computer terminal, business magazines like Forbes, Fortune, and Bloomberg Business Week, as well as local newspapers with employment ads such as Pasadena Star-News, Los Angeles Times, and Los Angeles Business Journal.

Michael Johnson is a former resident of South Pasadena who maintains close ties to this community. He has over 10 years of experience in the recruiting industry and nearly 20 years before that as a highly successful salesperson. Michael is currently the Managing Partner of the Human Resources practice in Lucas Group’s Los Angeles Office. Before joining Lucas Group, Michael was a Regional Director with Kelly Law Registry, where he managed a team of recruiters focused on legal placement.

Johnson has also blogged and appeared in videos for Lucas Group, giving advice on everything from online job hunting to standing out from other job seekers.

The South Pasadena Public Library is open seven days a week at 1100 Oxley Street.
