Business Profile: Radiant Imaging
By Amelia Favela
Radiant Imaging is an advanced radiology group that focuses on providing patients with top-tier medical care. The company came into existence when two medical groups emerged in 2013, The Hill Medical Corporation and Arcadia Radiology Medical Group, both of which have over 50 years of experience. Working within these branches are 26 board-certified radiologists with multiple areas of expertise. The subspecialized group is capable of offering medical related services such as body imaging, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal (MSK), neuroradiology, pediatric imaging and nuclear medicine.
President of The Hill Medical Corporation and Radiant Imaging, Dr. Hedley, said Radiant Imaging is the result of two medical groups realizing the potential in joining forces. “In order to survive in the new environment, you have to have more subspecializations and be able to offer more services. We have certain strengths; they [Arcadia Radiology] have certain strengths, and we realized it was a win-win situation.”
Together as one, the two medical groups, now known as Radiant Imaging, are able to offer high quality sub-specialty care to patients of all ages throughout the entire San Gabriel Valley, with offices located in Pasadena, Glendora, and Arcadia.
One of the newest members to join the team of radiology experts is interventional neuroradiologist Angelos A. Konstas, M.D., Ph.D. Konstas’ contribution allows Radiant Imaging to better assist patients who may suffer from a stroke. “If someone comes in within six to eight hours of having a stroke, we can minimize the amount of time they may spend recovering from the stroke in a hospital,” said Dr. Hedley.
The core value of the company is to provide the highest quality of medical image readings. “It’s about giving patients the right test at the right time,” said Dr. Hedley. In order to assure patients are being led to the right tests, Radiant Imaging makes every effort to be involved in all aspects of each patient’s experience. “Opposed to just interpreting the results of a test, we like to be there at the front-end, recommending what tests to do, being real consultants alongside the doctor.”
The challenges the medial group faces are no different from the challenges that medicine and radiology are facing as a whole across the U.S., including decreases in reimbursements and more computer system requirements. “There are a lot of things we’re being required to do which are relatively new. They’re all doable, just extremely expensive at a time when the reimbursements are going down,” said Dr. Hedley.
Dr. Hedley stated the goal of Radiant Imaging is to continue to grow and serve Southern California with excellent medical imaging. “The highest quality care is to be able to provide the most subspecialty care, and the only way to do that is to get bigger … Our goal is to offer subspecialty readings 24 hours, seven days a week.”
