TEDxPasadenaWomen May 30 Conference
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world. Here in Pasadena, they are hosting an independently run event. TEDxPasadenaWomen announced its partners for its May 30 conference at the Los Angeles College of Music (300 S. Fair Oaks, Ave., Pasadena). The day-long conference (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) will feature local speakers and performers as well as a recorded session from the TEDWomen conference being held earlier that week in Monterey, CA. Live speakers include Global Press Institute founder Cristi Hegranes, actress/activist Tembi Locke, KPCC host Alex Cohen, and John Muir High School student Consuelo Martinez among others. A complete list of live speakers is listed on the TEDxPasadenaWomen website.
