Monrovia Remains Undefeated in League After 8-1 Victory Over South Pasadena

The Monrovia Wildcat’s side-armed pitcher Brian McConnell (#12) went the distance, recording 7 innings with 6 strikeouts, 3 hits, 1 run and 0 walks. McConnell’s pitching caused the South Pasadena Tigers to keep the ball within the infield, causing 12 groundouts throughout the game. Monrovia’s bats racked up 9 hits and 6 walks, earning them the 8 runs. Hits came from eight different batters as well as five stolen bases from the Wildcats.

The Tigers would have three different pitchers at the mound, starting with Alec English (#7) who completed 3.2 innings with 2 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks and 0 strikeouts. English was succeeded by Jack Renken (#10), who went 1.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs and 1 strikeout. The Tigers finished the game with Brandon Louie (#35), who pitched 2 innings recording 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

Monrovia’s victory brings their league record to 5-0 while South Pasadena falls to 1-4. These two teams meet again this Friday, April 17th at Monrovia High School.
