Work is continuing at and around Station Square in Monrovia. The grading and foundation work is underway at the station site itself requiring those whose use the park and ride there to continue to use the alternate parking at 123 W. Pomona Avenue. Meanwhile the street improvements continue around the square itself. Remember to observe all traffic laws and signs and the special street delineations in the area.
On Myrtle Avenue from Evergreen to Duarte Road, crews will be installing irrigation on the west side of the street, therefore pedestrian traffic will need to use the east side and street parking will not be available. The traffic lanes may be affected, but no lane closures are planned.
Sidewalks and irrigation is being installed on Duarte Road between California and Magnolia Avenue. Traffic may be impacted, but no extended lane closures are planned. There will be no street parking in this area.
Meanwhile on Pomona Avenue between Myrtle and Magnolia Avenues, pavers will be installed on the south side of the street; therefore pedestrians must use the north side. Again there will be no street parking and the traffic might be impacted with short lane closures.
On Magnolia Avenue between Evergreen Avenue and the railroad tracks, crews will be installation irrigation and the substructure for telecommunications. This will result in some full lane closures and no street parking. Pedestrians will be routed to the west side of the street.
Gwendolyn Jones will be pleased to know that the bus structures will be installed on Primrose Avenue south of Evergreen (she has been asking at City Council Meetings for weeks). Crews will also be reconstructing Primrose in this area. As a result south of Pomona Avenue, Primrose will be restricted to one lane and there will be no street parking. Pedestrians will be routed to the east side of the street in that area.
On the west side of California Avenue between Duarte Road and Evergreen Avenue, light poles will be installed. Pedestrians will need to use the east side of the street and there will be no street parking. Traffic lanes might be impacted.
