Maranatha’s Mixed Ensemble Sings in Musicale at Lake Avenue Church
Maranatha High School’s Mixed Ensemble recently participated in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) two-day Musicale Festival at Lake Ave Church. Christian schools from the region gathered to collectively perform select vocal pieces as part of the closing night’s grand performance. Additionally, each school prepared two songs of their own choosing to perform for an adjudicator. Dr. James Melton, Music Department Chair at Vanguard University, and Dr. Galen Clark, Choral Conducting Chair at Azusa Pacific University, adjudicated Maranatha’s ensemble. The feedback Maranatha received was both positive and uplifting. Dr. Garineh Avakian, Maranatha’s Choir Director, noted, “Our students were professional in how they conducted themselves and also how they sounded at the adjudications. We thank God for giving us the talent and opportunity to be a part of this special event. I am proud of all the hard work that our Mixed Ensemble has done this year.”
Five Maranatha students were chosen to be a part of the ACSI Honors Choir – Daniel Hsieh, Luke Simon, Kelly Ng, Emma Hausler, and Holly Campbell. Two MHS students were also chosen to sing the solo parts in the command performance: Emma Hausler and Luke Simon.
Maranatha’s Mixed Ensemble will perform next on April 24 at their “Back to the Future” Spring Performing Arts Showcase that will feature the school’s Mixed Ensemble, Advanced Orchestra, and Dance Company. Tickets will be on sale in April at www.maranatha-hs.org/boxoffice.
