Southern Californian firefighters are putting up their dukes in a test of speed, endurance and boxing skills to find Southern California’s toughest, strongest firefighter – and it’s all for a two-year-old boy fighting cancer.
The Challenge for Dylan takes place noon on Saturday, March 14 at Title Boxing Club in Pasadena (87 Frasier Alley across from DeLacey parking structure). All funds raised from the afternoon event support Dylan Wolfe’s alternative medication; he has been battling cancer for most of his young life.
The event is sponsored by Fire Family Foundation, the charitable hand of Firefighter’s First Credit Union which has established a fund for Dylan.
Firefighters from around the Los Angeles area will go head-to-head in various competitions at the boxing bag and other strenuous activities. The public is also invited to participate in the challenge alongside firefighters to see how they stack up against the pros. All participants will also get an opportunity to take a one half-hour boxing class as well as receive a commemorative t-shirt and lunch provided by Pasadena Firefighter’s 809.
Tickets for participants are $30; $10 for spectators (includes lunch); advanced tickets can be purchased at Fire Family Foundation’s website: www.FireFamilyFoundation.org/dylan.
“Fire Family Foundation is pleased to partner with Title Boxing Club to support Dylan as he battles cancer,” said Mike Mastro, Board Chair. “As a true family, our Foundation offers a helping hand in times of need and whether it’s a fire family member or victim, we are here to help.”
“This will be a fun friendly competition for both firefighters and the public,” said Title Boxing Club owner Frank Perez. “We want to help Dylan knock out cancer.”
Fire Family Foundation continues to accept donations on behalf of Dylan; donors can visit www.firefamilyfoundation.org or call (323) 550-2208. Checks may be made payable to Fire Family Foundation, 815 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90041 with the notation: Challenge for Dylan.
