Another terrific expert panel — “Spring Cleaning for Your Finances: Investing & Taxes” — will be featured at the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Networking Breakfast March 19, sponsored by Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Four Arcadia Chamber members – Allen Tsay of Waddell & Reed, Emmy Hernandez of EH Financial, Kim Arnold of Books by Kim (and the Arcadia Chamber’s bookkeeper), and Yachen Sun of New York Life — will offer helpful tips about taxes and investing.
Also at the breakfast, Ernesto’s Barber Shop will be honored as an Arcadia Business Icon in a joint presentation of the Chamber and the Arcadia Historical Society.
The Ernesto’s barber shop is a three-generation business, with father Ernesto as a young boy following his father into the business. He later ran a shop in Pasadena before his friend invited him to run his new shop on Live Oak Avenue in Arcadia in 1992. A few weeks later he offered the shop to Ernesto, who bought it and has run it ever since. Later, his two sons Ernesto Junior and then Hector joined him, the latter nearly 12 years ago. A few years ago Ernest Junior moved his family to Utah, so now it is Ernesto and Hector running the shop each day starting at 9 a.m. in the style of traditional barbers, including a shave, trimming of eyebrows and ears, and complete with a barber pole out front!
As always, attendees of the Networking Breakfast (third Thursday of each month), sponsored by Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, not only enjoy a great breakfast buffet and valuable networking with dozens of others, but also introduce themselves one at a time with a 30-second “elevator pitch.” In addition, they have a chance to win one of multiple gifts donated by members and attendees for a business card drawing, one of which is a free three-minute Business Spotlight, this month by last month’s winner.
Tickets to the breakfast, which runs from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m., are $20 when paid by the Tuesday in advance of the breakfast program ($25 at the door) and discounted to $15 for Chamber members who pay by the previous Tuesday ($20 at the door for Chamber members). Those who pay by the previous Friday will get their name and contact information on the popular Hot Sheet listing that is handed out to all attendees of the breakfast. No charge for those holding a Chamber All Access Pass.
Tickets: 626-447-2159 or in the “Shop” area at www.ArcadiaCaChamber.org, or at Chamber office, 388 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, during regular business hours.
