Pasadena High School fell to Chaffey in overtime this Tuesday night after James Oxier (#10) scored his second goal off a goalie deflection in the 2nd minute of extra time.
This game was nothing short of entertaining. Both teams played with a similar style, sending long crosses with tactical dribbling, waiting for the other team to make a mistake.
Oxier’s first goal, which was a header into the right side of the net, put the Tigers up 1-0 in the first half. Shortly after, the Bulldogs would tie the game after a hand ball in the box was called on the Tigers, resulting in a Alex Hernandez goal.
Both teams continued their intensity in the second half, pushing the ball down field hoping to find a gap in the defense. After a couple close attempts from both the Bulldogs and Tigers, regulation was called and we were headed into overtime.
It was in Overtime Tiger’s James Oxier became the hero. The senior forward was in the right place at the right time and was able to knock the deflection in for the game winning goal, immediately followed by a celebratory dog pile from his teammates.
Chaffey will play Cathedral in the championship this weekend.
