Catherine Louise Carter
March 17, 1953 – January 11, 2015
Cathy Carter died Jan. 11 after a brief illness. Cathy was well-known in the community and devoted her life to her husband and British Ex Pat George Carter and their wonderful extended family. Cathy’s career was in hairstyling at Del Sol Salon in Arcadia and each year she and other stylists donated their time and talents to shave heads of volunteers to raise money for childhood cancer research during the annual St. Baldrick’s Day celebrations held at Matt Denny’s Ale House in Arcadia. Cathy’s husband, George, was the founding member of the local St. Baldrick’s group who brought the idea to Matt McSweeny over a decade ago. The event has grown to be one of the largest fundraising events in the country thanks to Cathy’s talents and those of Del Sol salon, and, of course, her husband George.
Cathy is survived by Son Matt and his wife Heather Grimadi and their two children Megan and Andrew. Her son Sean and Liza Grimaldi and their kids Daniel, Carter and Zoe. George’s Son, Dave Carter and his wife Lynn who have no children.
