Pasadena Dance Theatre’s The Nutcracker

December 14 — Adult Art-Making Workshop – Home Prints at the Norton Simon Museum from 11 am to 2 pm. Join artist Corrie Siegel in exploring various homemade printing techniques in conjunction with Home and Away: The Printed Works of Ruth Asawa. Participants examine ideas of home and family and create their own portraits and botanical still lifes. Students are encouraged to bring small objects or photographs that provide a sense of home. The fee of $30 ($24 for members) includes all materials and admission to the galleries on the day of the class.

December 14 — Sierra Madre Playhouse Presents A Little House Christmas at Sierra Madre Playhouse (87 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.) at 7:00 pm. – Winters are harsh on the Minnesota prairie, and this year’s storm threatens to block Santa’s visit to the Ingalls’ modest home. This warm, wonderful family play is adapted from several Laura Ingalls Wilder “Little House” stories and features one of Pa’s famous stories and lots of song and dance. Cost: $15.00 – $28.00.
SOUTH PASADENA
December 14 — Arroyo Singers Concert: “An International Holiday Celebration” at at Oneonta Congregational Church (1515 Garfield) at 4 pm. The concert will feature songs of the season reflecting the countries of origin of the members of the chorus. Dr. James Reitzell will direct the chorale, which will be accompanied by pianist Nonna Ayrapetova. Refreshments will be served following the performance. TEMPLE CITY
December 12 — The City of Temple City is now seeking distinguished homes to be recognized for best holiday decorations in the winter ‘Yard of the Quarter’ contest.
Homeowners may nominate themselves or other residential properties within Temple City limits. Five winners will be selected to receive a recognition yard sign and gift bag. Entries will be judged on curbside appeal only. Apply in person at City Hall or Live Oak Park Community Center, or online at www.templecity.us. Deadline to enter is 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12. Entry is free. Judging takes place the week of Dec. 15. Winners will be notified by Dec. 18.
