Free horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered for the first time in Downtown Arcadia on Saturday evenings, Dec. 6, 13, and 20, courtesy of sponsor MW Investment Group.
The rides are a new element of the second annual Christmas Market presented by Arcadia’s Best Foundation in association with the Arcadia Improvement Association. Also new to the market from 5-9 p.m. Saturdays on First Avenue between Huntington Drive and Wheeler Street will be local restaurants Matt Denny’s Ale House, La Luna Negra, and Stacked Sandwich offering speciality food and beverages for purchase. Other vendors, food trucks and business vendors will also offer a plethora of delicious holiday fare.
A horse-drawn white wagonette provided by G and F Carriages in Bloomington, Ca., will take riders through Downtown and past the new Arcadia Transit Plaza featuring a lighted clock tower. Sponsor MW Investment Group is owned by local developer Matt Waken, whose Walbern Developments has been involved in the building of several prominent commercial buildings in Arcadia, among many other residential, commercial, and retail projects in Southern California.
The Christmas Market, which features blowing snow, free horse-drawn carriage rides, Dickens Christmas carolers, more than 50 holiday food and merchandise vendors, Santa Claus posing for photos at a classic fire truck, inflated jumpers for kids, and live bands, is sponsored primarily by the Foothill Gold Line as well as Forest Lawn. Horse carriage rides are free courtesy of MW Investment Group. Waste Management provides trash services. Additional support comes from the City of Arcadia, Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant, Marie Taylor of NAI Capital, and attorney April A. Verlato.
The event is produced by Family Festival Productions in association with Wayne Tay and Town & Country Event Rentals.
Plenty of free parking is available in several public lots off Wheeler Street east and west of First Ave.
