December 5 — Mayors Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pasadena City Hall (100 N. Garfield Ave.) from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Join Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard to light the City’s Official Holiday Tree during a free, annual festive family celebration with local singers, art projects for kids and a special appearance by Santa Claus! The Mayor’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting event happens from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. The Mayor will light the tree at 6 p.m. Free.
ARCADIA
December 6 — Breakfast with Santa and Holiday Snow Festival! at the Arcadia Community Center (365 Campus Dr.) 8:30-9:30 am or 10:30-11:30 am. Breakfast and photo with Santa. Festival is free. Breakfast/photo is $10 per person. The Holiday Snow Festival is free to the public and will also take place at the Arcadia Community Center on the same day, rain or shine, from 9 am-2 pm. This event will feature holiday entertainment, crafts, trolley train rides, dual sled runs and two snow play areas. Delicious food from the popular Grilled Cheese Truck will be available for purchase from 11:30am-1:30pm. Free parking is available at the Centennial Way Entrance to Santa Anita Race Track. December 6 — Scott Land Marionettes at Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage (380 W Huntington Dr.) at 10 am and 1 pm. Land, a world-renowned puppeteer, brings his enchanting Marionette show to the Museum Education Center for two special Snow Festival appearances. Seating is limited and seating is first-come, first-served. Tickets are free at the Museum front desk the day of the event.

December 6 — 43rd Annual Holiday House Marks the Beginning of Winter Festivities in El Monte at the El Monte Community Center (3130 Tyler Ave.) from 9 am to 7 pm. The El Monte Community Center will become a veritable “Santa’s Workshop,” featuring Christmas carolers, contests, games, prizes and pictures with Old St. Nick. In addition, the event will include a Holiday Boutique with many participating vendors. The first 200 hundred children to visit the Holiday House will receive a free holiday surprise. Union St.) Jess Collins, known simply as Jess, and his partner, the poet Robert Duncan, were one of the most fascinating artist couples of the 20th century Jess’s mind-bending collages-or, as he called them, “paste-ups,” were often published to accompany erudite Duncan’s poems and essays, whose writings and ideas, in turn, made their way into Jess’s dense and allusive works.
