On This Thanksgiving

On this Thanksgiving Day I share with you some words of wisdom that have been printed many times in many places with slight variations. I like this version, original author unknown.
I Am Thankful For…..
The spouse who hogs the covers every night…
Because he/she is not out with someone else.
The teenager who is not doing dishes, but is watching TV,
Because he/she is at home and not on the streets.
For the taxes I pay, because I am employed.
For the mess to clean up after a party,
Because I have been surrounded by friends.
For the clothes that fit a little too snug,
Because I have enough to eat.
For a lawn that needs mowing,
Windows that need cleaning,
And gutters that need fixing,
Because I have a home.
For all the complaining I hear about the government,
Because we have freedom of speech.
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the lot,
Because I am capable of walking and
I have been blessed with transportation.
For my huge heating bill, because I am warm.
For the lady behind me in church who sings off key,
Because I can hear.
For the pile of laundry and ironing,
Because I have clothes to wear.
For the weariness and aching muscles
At the end of the day,
Because I am capable of working hard.
For the alarm that wakes me in the early morning,
Because it means I am alive!
…May all the people you know and love be thankful always.
