Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Welcomes 25 Provisional Members for 2014-15

Meet the Treblemakers! Pasadena Showcase for the Arts (PSHA) welcomes 25 new Provisional Members for 2014-15. Dubbed the Treblemakers by Provisional Chair Marybeth Rehman-Dittu, the new group represents all the hard work, commitment and dedication required of members. !“If you are looking for great meaning in the selection of this Provisional class name, stop now; there is as much depth to this name as a scratch lotto ticket,” jokes Marybeth. “But in all seriousness, we have a wonderful Provisional class this year and are really happy that they are part of our organization.” A play on words, the “Treblemakers” name reflects PSHA’s dedication to music education. The meaning of treble in music refers to high notes and a treble clef is used to notate such notes. The new group is a welcome addition to the all-volunteer organization. PSHA members work tirelessly to produce the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design whose proceeds go to funding music programs in the community.
“We are extremely excited to have this new group of volunteers,” said PSHA President Katherine Watkins. “The backbone of our organization is our members and without their volunteerism and dedication, we would not be able to achieve the successes we have throughout the years. Bermingham, Jeannie Tsai; Altadena residents: Annelise Dachel, Mercedes Victoria Bowie; San Dimas resident: Dewi Slayton; San Gabriel resident: Christy Granieri; Arcadia resident: Randa Keysselitz; Montebello resident: Rosemarie Ribeiro; Los Angeles resident: Holly Lake; Santa Monica resident: Michele Vercoutere; La Canada residents: Hilda Hacobian, Terri Kagawa, Bonnie Marshall, Cynthia Gilbert, Sally Hazen; West Covina resident: Beth Hanson; Glendale residents: Deborah Hudson, Samantha Marlowe, Debann Orfalea, Janis Rosebrook; and Santa Clarita resident: Allison Maginn. !The Treblemakers are a diverse group: a lower school director at Polytechnic School, a pre-school teacher, a USC Engemann Student Health Center nurse, an attorney, the president of correspondent banking at Opus Bank, a few proud mothers and happy homemakers, some family business owners, a software support manager, a partner at
a law firm, a wedding photographer, a VP of regional sales at SQAD LLC, a manager for CSC, a career advisor at FIDM, a retired assistant dean of UCLA, an accountant, a world traveler, and an ecstatic empty nester. As Provisional Members, these 25 volunteers will not only staff the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, but will dedicate their time to three music programs supported by PSHA: the Pasadena Showcase House Music Mobile™, in which the Pasadena
Conservatory of Music and members of PSHA introduce third-graders throughout the San Gabriel Valley to the instruments and music of an orchestra; the Pasadena Showcase House Youth Concert, to which PSHA invited approximately 4,000 fourthgraders from 50 schools in the San Gabriel Valley to Walt Disney Concert Hall for a special performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra earlier this year; and the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition in which talented, young musicians, ages 16-24, compete for approximately $30,000 in award monies in the areas of Brass, Strings and Woodwinds, that will take place later this month. The 2015 Showcase House will be open to the public April 19 to May 17, 2015. Tickets to the Showcase House go on sale February 4, 2015. ABOUT PASADENA SHOWCASE HOUSE FOR THE ARTS
An all-volunteer organization, PSHA is a non-profit California Corporation whose members donate their time and talents to produce the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design. It is one of the oldest, largest and most successful house and garden tours in the nation. PSHA just celebrated the milestone of its 50th Showcase House in 2014. Founded in 1948, they have donated nearly $20 million to provide music programs in the community. Examples include the underwriting of concerts, choral productions, musical theater, opera, jazz quartets, marching bands, and orchestras at local schools, senior centers, and through many other non-profit organizations. Additionally, a staple part of their program is music therapy for at-risk children, scholarships for young musicians, and music education at a variety of levels. This is in addition to their longstanding support of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. PSHA also produces two other highly regarded annual music programs: Music Mobile™ and Instrumental Competition. An essential part of PSHA’s mission is to nurture the study and appreciation of music and to ensure that music is available to a broad range of audiences. For over sixty-five years PSHA has funded and produced programs that have enriched the lives of countless people and brought a lasting legacy to the community.
