Pasadena Symphony Orchestra Music Director/Conductor, David Lockington, Directs Maranatha’s Orchestra Rehearsal
Recently, the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra contacted Maranatha High School asking if the Performing Arts Department would be interested in having the Music Director/Conductor of the Pasadena Symphony, David Lockington, come and direct a rehearsal of Maranatha’s orchestra. Since Maranatha is in the midst of preparing for Christmas, their orchestra was working on “Waltz of the Flowers,” from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker.” Being a familiar piece, Mr. Lockington was able to come right in and refine the music with detailed instruction. He took the opportunity to not only rehearse the piece, but to also teach some good musical lessons. Additionally, Mr. Lockington played a few pieces on the cello for the students, an instrument he has played since he was ten years old.
