Opening This Weekend, Parson’s Nose Presents an Original Musical, “The Pied Piper of Hamlin (A Musical)”
Parson’s Nose Theater (PNT) continues their 2014-15 Season with their first Full Production, The Pied Piper of Hamlin (A Musical), opening this weekend. This is an original piece from artistic director, Lance Davis, based on the famous Eastern European Folk Tale.
“We all desperately need stories,” says Mr. Davis. “We devour them all day long, and make up our own when we sleep. Then try to make sense of our world. We all know what it feels like to be the ‘other,’ the ‘outsider.’ It’s why we scurry to be the ‘insider.’ Our stories teach us about the critical importance of stepping back and stepping in. By stepping back from the safety of the group we can step in to the heart of the individual and find ourselves there. It changes us, and we realize we must make the world change.
“The Pied Piper is a 13th Century legend with many possible sources. In my version it’s about a town that refuses to change its priorities, and pays the price.”
