Maranatha continues to stay perfect as Varsity dominated the second half to beat Heritage Christian 42-24. The Minutemen took longer than expected to hit their stride, as an opening turnover on the kickoff gave Heritage Christian the ball on Marantha’s own 26 yard-line. Throughout the game, the Minutemen were penalized from numerous holding and delay of game penalties. Despite their slow start, Maranatha led to their star running back, Caleb Devine (#7), had a stat line of 14 rushes for 94 yards and a TD. After a quick presentation from the Homecoming Court and Eli Snyder, the starting QB (#11), was crowned Homecoming King, the second half was underway. Heritage Christian would get their only score of the half on a one yard run bringing their lead to 24-10. Then, Devine continued his dominance on the ground running for 4 more touchdowns in the second half, bringing his total to 5 TDs, and rushing for 243 yard plus 56 receiving yards. Adding to the defensive stat sheet, Boone, Myers and Mata all came down with big-time Interceptions to help Maranatha keep their momentum late in the game. Caleb Devine simply had a star-studded performance on Friday night and the Minutemen hope it leads to a complete season of 10 wins and no loses. Maranatha faces Whittier Christian November 7th. Good Luck, Minutemen!
