Asian Health Fair Offers Free Health Screenings Sunday Nov 2
Methodist Hospital and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) of Arcadia will again host the 12th Annual Asian Health Fair Sunday, Nov. 2, at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia
Health screenings, available 8 – 11:30 a.m., include blood testing (only for those who have fasted after midnight Saturday until the event). Lab tests will be performed for cholesterol, diabetes, liver function, thyroid, kidney function and cell blood count (CBC). Other screenings include:
-Breast cancer – blood pressure – flu shots (for the first 100 people – priority for ages 60+)
-Bone density – vision (glaucoma) – “mini” mental state (priority for ages 55+)
-Oximetry – body mass index – dental and oral
-Prostate cancer – thyroid – ear exam
-Physician consult – dietitian consult – pharmacist consult
Preference will be given to those who do not have health insurance and/or those qualified as low income. Screenings not specified by age group or other conditions are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Screenings are subject to change without notice and are good only on the specified date and time. The health fair is open to those ages 21 and over.
