On October 13, 2014 at 6:18am, Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 200 block of North Madison Avenue, following a 911 call for help from a male reporting that he and his wife were stabbed and badly injured. The caller reported that the suspect, a reported family member, had possibly left the apartment.
Officers quickly responded and discovered two adult victims inside an apartment on the third floor critically injured from multiple stab wounds. The injured male and female were transported to a local area hospital by Pasadena Fire Department Paramedics.
Tragically, the female died soon after arriving and the male victim died while in surgery.
Pasadena Police Officers located the suspect walking in the area of Madison Avenue and Walnut Street where he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect’s clothing was bloody and he had a minor injury to his left arm. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment and remains in police custody.
The victim has since been identified as Larry Bressler, a popular culinary arts instructor at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena. The second victim was his wife, Denise. Colleagues of Bressler are shocked and heartbroken, remembering him as a wonderful instructor and influence.
UPDATE:
Pasadena Police arrested Jacob Mallory Bersson (White male-29, Pasadena resident) for the murder of Lawrence Bressler (White male-50) and Denise K. Bressler (White female-64) on October 13, 2014. Mr. and Mrs. Bressler were repeatedly stabbed inside the apartment they shared with suspect Bersson at 200 North Madison Avenue, Pasadena. Sometime during the assault, Mr. Bressler called 911 for help and identified his cousin Jacob Bersson as the suspect. Pasadena police officers quickly responded and located suspect-Bersson approximately one block from the Bressler’s residence. Suspect-Bersson was detained and transported to a local area hospital due to a laceration on his left arm. He was medically cleared on October 14, 2014 and booked for murder at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Jail, medical facility, at 1:26 AM. He is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail. Arraignment is set for October 15, 2014 at the Pasadena Court House.
