Bulldog running back Joeseph Thomas scored six touchdowns as the Pasadena High football team defeated visiting Arcadia High, 42-20, on Friday night in a CIF Southern Section Pacific League game.
The win is the Bulldogs’ second straight victory. They thrashed Hoover High, 47-0, on Oct. 3 to snap a three-game losing streak after downing South El Monte High, 50-7, in Week 1.
Pasadena coach Drew Bledsoe had words of praise for his running back.
“Joeseph Thomas is an amazing young man,” Bledsoe said. When our starting running back got injured before the first game, he volunteered to take the job and said, ‘Coach B, I will get the job done!’ He then proceeded to rush for 327 yards and 2 touchdowns against South El Monte and he hasn’t slowed up since.”
Bledsoe added Thomas just seems to be getting better every week.
“His performance against Arcadia is just another example of his hard work and dedication to his teammates,” Bledsoe said.
Bledsoe said despite getting off to a rather rough start his team will be competitive from here on out.
“We are treating each game this season like a bowl game, where as it is a privilege to be there,” he said. “Let’s have fun, stay focused and play to win.”
And as the team is facing league favorite Burrough High this Friday night, what can be expected from the Bulldogs?
“This week is a great match up for us facing Burroughs,” Bledsoe said. “They have the best coach in the league with coach (Keith) Knoop, so you know they will be prepared. We have our work cut out for us, but we look forward to the challenge.”
