September 28 — Wiggle Waggle Walk at Brookside Park (360 North Arroyo Boulevard) from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free.
Take a walk with your canine companion, friends, colleagues, neighbors and thousands of fellow dog lovers to raise money for animals in need at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA’s 16th annual Wiggle Waggle Walk.
Festivities include demonstrations, canine contests, award ceremony for top fundraisers, children’s activities an array of pet related vendors, food trucks, and music Contests for the dogs the day of the walk include: Owner/ Pet Look-A-Like and a Fashion Show. Prizes will also be given out for our Top Fundraiser, Top Donor, and Top Team. Last year’s event was an enormous success, drawing over 2,000 walkers and over 1,000 dogs from all over the Southern California area.

September 27 — Greater Los Angeles County Heart Walk at the Rose Bowl (1001 Rose Bowl Drive) at 9:00 am. Registration and Expo area open at 7:30 am. The route is a 5K walk and 1 mile Survivor Route.
Before and after the walk, take your children to the Kids Zone to participate in fun activities. Learn about your heart health with free CPR demonstrations and blood pressure screenings. Pay tribute to loved ones at our Wall of Hope. Grab goodies at sponsor booths. Free.

Alhambra

September 25 — Knots of Love Teen Project at Civic Center Library (Reese Hall, 101 1st Street) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Teens will work on knitting hats for the “Knots of Love” project that sends hand-knitted hats to veterans undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Free.
September 26 — “War Comes Home Event, “Paths of Glory” at Civic Center Library – Reese Hall (101 First St.) at 6:30 p.m. A film by Stanley Kubrick based on the novel of the same name. Set in World War I and starring Kirk Douglas. Free.
Arcadia

September 27 — The Thoroughbred Racing Walk of Champions Grand Opening at the corner of Huntington Dr. and First Ave. from 5:30 to 8 pm.The ceremony will feature guided tours of the “Walk,” Arcadia’s own “Walk of Fame” featuring sixty-seven 24″ x 24″ bronze plaques that honor some of the greatest race horses, jockeys, owners, and trainers in thoroughbred racing. A live 50s and 60s music band provides entertainment. Complimentary gift souvenirs while they last. Free.

Azusa

September 30– Moonlight Storytime at Azusa City Library (729 N Dalton Ave.) at 6 p.m. Children and their parents are invited to participate. Share love for books through stories, songs, and fingerplays in a group setting. (626) 612-5279 for information. Free.

October 1 — Cuentos Bilingues at Azusa City Library (729 N Dalton Ave.). A weekly bilingual Spanish language storytime Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. for stories, crafts, and songs from Latin America. (626) 612-5279 for information. Free.

Duarte

September 27 – Route 66 Parade and Picnic at the northeast corner of Huntington Dr. and Cotter St. proceeding east one mile along Duarte’s historic Route 66 from 10 am to 3 pm. The parade features more than 1,000 kids of all ages from Duarte and neighboring communities representing schools, churches, and a variety of sports and recreation programs. Free.

Glendale

September 26– Downtown Glendale Farmers’ Market at First Baptist Church parking lot (Maryland Avenue between California and Wilson) at 1:30 p.m. Free

October 1 — Glendale Noon Concerts at the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Glendale (209 N. Louise St.) from 2:10-12:40 pm. Viola d’amore player ADRIANA ZOPPO with JUSTIN HAYNES on viola da gamba are featured in a Baroque music program. Free.

Monrovia

September 26 — Monrovia Family Festival at Myrtle Ave. (Along Myrtle Ave. between Olive & Lime) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Vendors, farmers’ market, live music, kiddie rides and much, much more. Free.

Ramona Ave.(next to city hall and in front of the library) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Every Friday night the Monterey Park Certified Farmers Market features the freshest fruits, vegetables, flowers, nuts, honey, breads, hot food items, plus entertainment and surprises that make a great way to start the weekend.

Pasadena

September 25 — Taste of Pasadena SIP-tember Finale at the Rose Bowl (1001 Rose Bowl Dr.) from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Twenty-four Pasadena restaurants and caterers will offer food and drink samples. Admission includes tastes of the four finalist cocktail in the SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge. Old Oak Cellars winery will be tasting at the event, as well. Cost: $25.00 for Pasadena Chamber members and advance sales, $30.00/general public.

September 26 — Kiss Me, Kate at The Pasadena Playhouse (39 S El Molino Ave,) at 8:00 p.m. Kiss Me, Kate represents the legendary Cole Porter at his very best. It is without a doubt one of the great classics of the American musical theatre, celebrating Shakespeare and the joys, madness, and the rewards of working in the theatre — both onstage and off. The Pasadena Playhouse production will view the work through a new lens – using the wonderful material of this celebrated production to showcase the trailblazing African- American touring troupes of the early 20th century. September 26 — The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, at A Noise Within, (3352 E. Foothill Blvd.) at 8 pm. High farce and witty dialogue have helped make it Wilde’s most enduringly popular play. Cost: $18.00 – $40.00

September 27 – The Curious Art of Origami exhibition at Shumei Hall Gallery (2430 E. Colorado Blvd.) from 9:30 am – 6:00 pm. Art works by three of the most renowned origami artists in the country will be featured to highlight the diversity of contemporary origami art. This exhibition is as part of the Pasadena-wide A X S Curiosity. Free.

Pomona

September 28– Los Angeles County Fair (1101 West McKinley Ave., Fairplex). The 92nd Los Angeles County Fair’s closing day and your last chance to enjoy great food and amazing attractions and entertainment for all ages including Luminasia, featuring giant Chinese lanterns fashioned in iconic landmarks, Hall of Heroes ; Grinding Gears; and The Farm. Some familiar attractions are the carnival, featuring more than 70 thrilling rides; The Shopping Place; and craft beers and award-winning wines.

September 28 — Kidspace Flea Market at Kidspace Children’s Museum (480 N. Arroyo Blvd.), from 10 am to 2 pm. Calling all and would-be entrepreneurs! It’s not business as usual at Kidspace, it’s the Kidspace Flea Market run by kids for kids! Learn the tricks of the trade to running one’s own business. Sierra Madre

September 26 — Sierra Madre Playhouse Presents 4000 Miles at Sierra Madre Playhouse (87 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.) at 8:00 pm. After suffering a major loss while on a cross-country bike trip, 21 year-old Leo seeks refuge with his feisty 91 year-old grandmother Vera in her West Village apartment. Over the course of a single month, these unlikely roommates infuriate, bewilder, and ultimately reach each other. 4000 MILES looks at how two outsiders find their way in today’s world. Author Amy Herzog was nominated for a 2013 Pulitzer Prize for 4000 MILES and Time Magazine called it “the best play of the year.” LA Premiere Production.Cost: $15.00 – $25.00
