Wildly Entertaining Concert Boasts Special Guest Cedric Berry in a Tribute to the Old West

Hold on to your hats music-fans because it’s sure to be an unforgettably wild ride when Maestro Victor Vener and his California Philharmonic are joined by a special guest, acclaimed bass-baritone Cedric Berry, for Cowboys & Copland on July 12, 2014.
A salute to the Wild West, the second concert of the summer season features music from such popular screen classics as “The Magnificent Seven,” “How The West Was Won” and “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,” as well as Aaron Copland’s classics “Billy The Kid” and “Rodeo.”
Special guest and audience favorite Berry, who has traveled the world performing a variety of prestigious roles in major operas from Tosca to La Boheme, shares his most spectacular instrument, his voice, with the orchestra in a special nod to American folk songs. Copland’s Old American Songs reinterpret 18th and 19th century classics for voice and orchestra, running the gamut of American life from The Dodger, Long Time Ago and Simple Gifts to I Bought Me A Cat.
“Cowboys & Copland is an action-packed musical program with something for everyone,” said California Philharmonic Maestro Victor Vener. “California Philharmonic’s world class musicians, plus Cedric Berry’s powerful and captivating voice, prove America sounds better than ever.”
Gates open at 5:30pm for pre-concert dining, live jazz, and a host of pre-concert family friendly activities, including face painting and a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo.
