Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Double Homicide in 2010

A man was sentenced by a judge to life in prison on June 19 for shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend in Monterey Park back in early 2010, officials said.
Corona resident Richard Tauch, 49, will also have no possibility of parole. He was sentenced in Pasadena Superior Court, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said in a written statement.
Tauch was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder last November for shooting and killing Jenny Sor, 40, of Los Angeles and Wenwa Chao, 53, of Alhambra on Jan. 19, 2010.
“The jury also found true the special allegations of multiple murder and lying in wait,” according to that report.
Prosecutors said Tauch was a security guard for a casino and he was obsessed with his ex-girlfriend.
“Tauch and Sor were in a relationship for a year before she broke up with him in December 2009 and started dating Chao,” according to a statement released by the district attorney’s office.
On the day he murdered the two people, Tauch went to the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood and hid himself away in her car, officials said.
He stay there hidden as “she drove to an assisted living facility in the 200 block of North Chandler Avenue in Monterey Park, where Chao was visiting his father,” according to that report.
“When Sor arrived at the care home, she went inside and Tauch followed,” according to the district attorney’s office statement. “The defendant then accosted Sor and Chao and shot them multiple times. The victims died at the scene.”
Tauch ran from the scene after the murders, but was arrested by police the next day, officials said.
