Members of the Arcadia Police Department participated in the Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run on June 5, 2014. Arcadia PD received the torch from Monrovia PD near the intersection of Huntington Dr. and Fifth Ave. Arcadia PD runners carried the torch just over 4 miles to the area of Las Tunas Dr. and Baldwin Ave. where they handed it off to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Temple Station.
The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is to increase awareness and raise funds for the Special Olympics movement. Since its inception in 1981, the torch run has grown extensively worldwide with over 97,000 volunteers spanning 46 countries, and raising more than $461 million for the Special Olympics.
