Temple City high softball coach arrested for unlawful sex with a minor

By Terry Miller

Temple City Tribune has confirmed that a ‘walk-on’ JV Girls softball coach Ryan Frontino, 30,  who worked at Temple City High  was arrested May 22 at booked at Temple Station charged with unlawful sex with a minor.

Lieutenant Steven D. Katz at LASD special Victims United confirmed that Frontino was arrested for the above mentioned crime and bail was initially set a $260,000.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau facilitated the arrest of a Temple City High School Junior Varsity Soft Ball Coach, in the 11400 Block of Hallwood Drive in the city of El Monte according a report obtained by this newspaper.

The Special Victims Bureau began the investigation on May 19, 2014, when the victim’s mother notified law enforcement of sexually explicit messages she found on her daughter’s cell phone.

The messages were from her daughter’s former soft ball coach. Detectives immediately began their investigation, which led to the suspect’s arrest. The suspect has allegedly confessed to the allegations corroborating the victim’s account.

The suspect has been a “seasonal” part time employee since 2011. He met and coached the victim over the past few years, according to LASD reports.

According to someone close to the investigation, Frontino “ was extremely flirtatious with most of the girls, and would often hang out with them without any other adults or parents present.”

Details of the case are pending and we will report as soon as possible.

Frontino  is now out on bond and scheduled to appear at Alhambra Municipal Court June 9 at 08:30 to answer the charges against him.
