Most government businesses including Pasadena’s City Hall and many city services and offices will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day, a national day of remembrance for the brave men and women of the U.S. military who died in the line of duty for our country. Specific closures and exceptions are noted below.
Pasadena Police and Fire Departments will continue to be staffed for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services. For any life-threatening emergencies, always remember to call 9-1-1.
The City Council will not meet on Monday, May 26.
Pasadena residents and businesses with any power emergencies should call the Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) Department at (626) 744-4673 and for water-related emergencies call (626) 744-4138. PWP’s regular Customer Service Call Center will be closed for the holiday, but customers can still pay their bills by phone at (626) 744-4005 or on the Web at www.PWPweb.com. The City’s Municipal Services Payment Center at City Hall also will be closed.
The Citizen Service Center will be open to take calls on Memorial Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (626) 744-7311.
Refuse and recycling services also will be on regular schedules for Memorial Day, May 26 as well as the rest of the week. No pickups for bulky items will be scheduled for May 26
The Pasadena Public Library, including the Central Library and all branches, will be closed both Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26.
The City’s Area Rapid Transit System (ARTS) and Dial-A-Ride transportation programs will not be in operation on Memorial Day, but will resume regular service on Tuesday, May 27. All parking meters not posted as a “No Parking” zone will be free on May 26 and time limits will not be enforced during. the holiday. Violations for red curb parking and blocking fire hydrants will continue to be enforced on the holiday, however, and all enforcement will resume May 27.
The Community Centers operated by the City’s Human Services and Recreation Department will be closed on Memorial Day, but all parks will be open for picnics, fun and festivities. No site reservations are accepted on holidays. The water play “Splash Pad” facility at La Pintoresca Park, 45 E. Washington Blvd., has been turned on for the season and is now available every day, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., including Memorial Day, through Labor Day Weekend.
The City wishes all to have a safe holiday and to celebrate responsibly as we remember those in military service who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America.
