It is a long way from Stafford-upon Avon in Warwickshire but Pasadena could be considered The Bard’s second home – especially at A Noise Within where Chuck Brogdon, a former Glendale teacher, played the 14th century wordsmith with the finesse of the Royal Shakespeare Company .
Widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s pre-eminent dramatist, William Shakespeare is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon.”
The popular theatre celebrated the Bard’s 450th birthday Thursday in Pasadena. Sword fight demonstrations and leaving an insult on their Shakespearean Insults as well as trying on period costumes were some of the highlights. If you didn’t attend, Shakespeare offers this – one of his famous insults: “Out of my sight! Thou dost infect my eyes.”
