Rep. Chu Shares Proposed Legislation on San Gabriel National Recreation Area, Welcomes Public Comment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA) made public her draft legislation to designate the San Gabriel Mountains and river corridor as a National Recreation Area.

“The number of visitors the San Gabriel Mountains attract each year is on par with Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, yet funding and preservation efforts fall far short by comparison. Since coming to Congress, I have worked to address this disparity and for the last year I have been in close, constant dialogue with local residents and stakeholders alike in the drafting of this bill. Today, I am continuing that effort of collaboration by sharing the discussion draft of my bill. I look forward to hearing from our community members about how we can best protect the natural beauty in our own back yard.”
