Kiwanis International’s day of service, April 5’s Kiwanis One Day, will bring together Kiwanis clubs from around the world for a day of giving back to local communities. This year, the event kicks off National Volunteer Week, and more than 26,000 Kiwanis members are expected to participate in the United States, donating $3.5 million worth of service.

City parks are a place where families can build memories by taking their children for bike rides and where they can enjoy walks with their dogs. Unfortunately, Grand Park of Monrovia has been ill-maintained for the past ten years due to recent budget cuts, and has suffered from lack of maintenance and up keep.

Kiwanis of Monrovia members and community volunteers are joining together in the spirit of service on April 5 to adopt Grand Park and restore the life of family picnics and casual play dates with friends. Kiwanis members will also continue to maintain the park on a quarterly basis in order to ensure the park’s future sustainability.

The volunteers from Monrovia’s Kiwanis club are just part of the efforts for the annual Kiwanis One Day, an international day of service to unite communities and spread the spirit of service on April 5. The Kiwanis International family is made up of nearly 600,000 youth and adult volunteers from 80 locations around the world. Each year Kiwanis International annually raises more than $100 million and dedicates more than 18 million volunteer hours to strengthen communities and serve children.

Time: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Address: Grand Park, 325 N. Grand Avenue, Monrovia.

“Kiwanis One Day is an opportunity for our clubs to join together on one day and make a visible difference in communities around the globe,” said Kiwanis International Executive Director Stan Soderstrom. “Often, the work is hard, but the need in our local communities is great. Our Kiwanis clubs address needs that would otherwise go unattended.”
