The investigation of the traffic collision wherein Paul Walker and Roger Rodas lost their lives on Saturday, November 30, 2013, in the city of Santa Clarita is continuing. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station traffic investigators are continuing to document the investigation.
At the conclusion of the on-scene traffic investigation the night of November 30, the wrecked Porsche Carrera GT was loaded onto a contracted flat-bed tow truck to be transported to the impound yard for further investigation. When the tow truck left the scene at about 10:00PM that night, several vehicles followed it eastbound on Newhall Ranch Road.
At one point the driver of the tow truck stopped at the red light E/B Newhall Ranch Road at McBean Parkway. A witness saw a male exit a vehicle that was following the tow truck. The male grabbed a piece of the wrecked Porsche off the tow truck bed. The male drove away with the stolen vehicle part. The tow truck driver reported the theft to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A search warrant was obtained and a suspect was taken into custody as he was leaving his residence located in Tujunga, Los Angeles County. 18-year old Suspect Jameson Witty was arrested at his residence.
A stolen vehicle part was later recovered by sheriff’s detectives serving a search warrant at a residence in Canyon Country, Los Angeles County. The car part was a red, T-top roof panel to the wrecked 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.
A second suspect in this theft has been identified. The 25-year old suspect is outside the state of California and is in communication with sheriff’s detectives making arrangements to surrender himself.
Suspect Jameson Witty was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Station with bail set at $20,000.00
Sheriff’s detectives will meet with the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s for consideration of filing criminal charges of felony Grand Theft (487(a) CA Penal Code) and Tampering with Evidence (135 CA Penal Code) against both suspects.
