The 2013 Lancers stepped up their schedule this season. They opened the 2013 season with Mission League and 2012 Western Division semi finalist Cathedral. The Lancers stayed close in the first half and went in trailing 7-14. The Phantoms came out in the second half striking quickly and went up 7-21 in the first minute of the third quarter. La Salle missed on numerous opportunities and committed 14 penalties for 132 yards. There were several bright spots for the Lancers. Special teams created three big turnovers. The defense played solid with constant pressure on the Phantoms quarterback all night. Offensively, Sophomore quarterback Aaron McCorkle played had a strong debut while Milan Acquaah created big play after big play as a running back, kick returner, and intercepted a pass on defense.

La Salle takes on Pacific League’s Pasadena high school Friday. Shel Segal will be covering the game for Beacon Media.
