SG Mission Inaugural “Blessing of the Cars”
San Gabriel Mission inaugural “Blessing of the Cars” Car Show is planned for Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on mission’s school grounds.
There is free admission to the car show and free parking in the big church lot in front of the churches at 427 S Junipero Serra Dr., on nearby streets, and at City of San Gabriel’s Mission Playhouse in the 300 S Mission Drive block in the Mission District a block northwest of the old Mission church.
There will be free entertainment. Vendors will be selling food and other items and a 50/50 ticket drawing will be held. San Gabriel Mission will sell the official car show tee shirt for only $10 so many people can afford to buy this inaugural car show shirt to have a souvenir, announced mission car show Director Xavier Vargas.
“Old Memories Car Club is operating the show for us because of their car show experience,” said Vargas. “We may have 200 cars here, it’s difficult to know since it’s the first show and many car show enthusiasts wait to show up early on the day of a show to register. We hope many spectators come to enjoy this family-oriented event.”
People can register their car or truck for $20, motorcycle for $15, bike or pedal car for $10. There will be many categories for trophies. Move-in time and on-site registration will be 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Blessing of the cars will be sometime during the middle time of the show.
Persons age 17 and younger must be with their parent or adult guardian.
