RECAP: SPLASH HOUSE TAKES OVER PALM SPRINGS

Old people beware, Splash House has successfully lured young adults by the thousands to blazing hot Palm Springs. This past weekend the desert city hosted the inaugural disco pool party extravaganza known as Splash House. World-class DJs and half-naked music lovers congregated at the Saguaro, Caliente Tropics, and the Curve hotels for a weekend worthy of plenty of day drinking and grooving.

While the famed Saguaro’s colorful outdoor pool area hosted the most crowded sets, the Curve and Caliente Tropics also held their own with a more laid-back environment. At the Curve, DJs spun from the balcony, looking down upon clam-shell inflatable beds and live art. We really enjoyed these intimate sets, as it was here that you could see the DJs spinning, regardless of the crowd, purely for the sake of enjoying and practicing their craft. At the Caliente Tropics, good vibes were abound as attendees laid on the grass or danced barefoot underneath a net of paper lanterns.

Awkward bikini tans and unexpected drunkenness aside (don’t underestimate the effect of the sun on your tolerance, y’all), Splash House was a huge success. We’d like to think that perhaps Palm Springs is on the cusp of a new identity. If that’s the case, we don’t mind bidding adieu to the old folks at all.
