Roll Up for the Mystery Tour and the Pasadena POPS
They’re Waiting to Take you away Aug 10
How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people? Classical Mystery Tour knows and combined with the Pasadena POPS on Saturday, August 10 at the LA Arboretum all of Arcadia will know too. The quartet, who starred on Broadway in the smash Broadway production Beatlemania, recreates the brilliant Lennon and McCartney music of The Beatles accompanied by a full orchestra.
The four musicians in Classical Mystery Tour look and sound just like The Beatles, but Classical Mystery Tour is more than just a rock concert. The show presents more than two dozen Beatles tunes performed exactly as they were originally recorded, with live trumpets on “Penny Lane,” “Yesterday” with an acoustic guitar and string quartet, and a psychedelic classical/rock blend on “I Am the Walrus.”
“The orchestral score is exact, right down to every note and instrument that was on the original recording,” explains Jim Owens, one of the founders and performers of Classical Mystery Tour. “It’s always been our goal to play Beatles music as closely to the way they did it, because really, they did it the best.” The Los Angeles Times raved that Classical Mystery Tour was “more than just an incredible simulation……the crowd stood and bellowed for more.”
Tickets to Classical Mystery Tour on August 10 plus all other concerts in the Pasadena POPS summer series start at $20 and are on sale now. The Los Angeles Arboretum opens at 5:30pm for picnic dining, a family-friendly Musical Instrument Petting Zoo and the POPS for PUPS Mobile Adoption Unit with the Pasadena Humane Society, with the performance beginning at 7:30pm.
