PAINT A PICTURE: JJJJOUND CORRESPONDENCE

“It’s a who’s who, what’s what type of livin'”

It’s a rare occasion to have your emails between friends replicated and immortalized through oil painting. Print outs are usually more sufficient. Yet, for blogger and aesthete Justin R. Saunders, print outs are never enough.

CORRESPONDENCE, an exhibit at HVW8 | ART + DESIGN GALLERY, follows a chain of emails between JJJJound founder, Saunders, and longtime partner Claudio Marzano–both creative forces behind their respective photo-curating blogs.

Like their blogs, the emails feature wordless moodboards shared between friends, pointing to the notion that ideas these days are so easily shared and the absence of words is nothing unusual. Commissioned by Saunders, each email is blown up onto 4×6 feet canvases by commercial painters from the Wushipu Oil Painting Village in Xiamen, China.
