Although James Jacob (better known by his stage name, Jakwob) first hit mainstream success with his remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed,” the 24-year-old British DJ has moved on to producing songs of his own with singles like “Here With Me,” “Right Beside You” and “Electrify.” Now the producer finds himself in the favorable predicament of being the one who’s being sampled instead.
London-based DJ and friend Etherwood successfully collaborated with Jakwob on a remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games,” spurring the beginning of a fruitful remix-relationship. Today, the two continue to display their musical chemistry through productions like Etherwood’s remix of Jakwob’s “Fade,” a single off of Jakwob’s album-in-progress.
This song features the polished sounds of singer-songwriter Maiday carefully laced with Jakwob’s hyper-toxic analog dips and flutters. Etherwood adds another layer of dimension with measures of euphoric melody studded by skipped beats. The combined result? A feeling of floating in space.
