Arcadia High School Theatre Student Goes From Hollywood to Broadway

Arcadia High School Theatre Department Wins Two Awards at the Pantages Theatre
Arcadia senior Anthony Nappier won Best Leading Actor in a High School Musical in Southern California last week at the Pantages Theatre.
Nappier will receive a check for $1,000 plus a trip to New York. He will experience five days of private coaching, master classes and rehearsals with theatre professionals. This experience will lead up to the grand finale, as he appears before a panel of industry experts selecting exceptional students to complete for ‘The Jimmy Awards’ for Best Performance by an actor as part of the National High School Musical Theater Awards, which culminate in a performance at Nederlander’s Minskoff Theatre on Broadway.
Steven Volpe who directed Nappier during the last four years said “Anthony has a natural talent to entertain people of all ages. It has been my great pleasure to work with him and see his remarkable growth”
The Arcadia High School Theatre Department also won the first place award for Best Scenic and Lighting Design.
Arcadia Mayor Mickey Segal said “The Arcadia High School Theatre Department continues achieve milestones never attained before. The City of Arcadia congratulates Anthony Nappier and others on these amazing results and wishes Anthony good luck on the next challenge in New York.”
“The Theater Program at Arcadia High School has demonstrated excellence at the local, regional, and the national level. This is another testament to the quality of students and staff that we enjoy in our community,” Arcadia High School Principal Dr. Brent Forsee said.
