Although “Ulysses” is not a new release, we couldn’t help but pick it as our song of the day. “Ulysses” is part of London producer Om Unit‘s “Aeolian” EP [Civil Records], released in 2012. Acompanied by an appropriately trippy visual journey through what appears to be an abstract digital landscape, “Ulysses” showcases Om Unit‘s ability to lay down just the right balance of percussion, bass and deep vibes to take the listener on a celestial expedition. Still, the track is just one exhibit of the diverse influences found in the Red Bull Music Academy (’11) alum’s portfolio of sounds, ranging from drum’n’bass to ambient, the producer’s tracks could be described as anything from psychedelic to “mechanical soul” depending on which EP you’re listening to.
Have we piqued your interest, Angelenos? If so, you can see Om Unit perform this Saturday evening at Los Globos. Tickets are available here.
