Dog Haus Saddened By Loss Of Chili Dog Pioneer With Pasadena Ties
Dog Haus, the ever-popular eatery for gourmet hot dogs, burgers and sausages, is paying tribute to Wienerschnitzel founder John Galardi following his recent death from pancreatic cancer.
In a homage to Galardi, who pioneered topping hot dogs with chili more than five decades ago, Dog Haus is offering its own Haus Chili Cheese Dog for half-price. The week long promotion of $3.00 chili dogs takes place Wednesday April 17, 2013 through Wednesday April 24, 2013 at all Dog Haus locations including Pasadena, Alhambra and Dog Haus Biergarten in Old Pasadena.
“I grew up eating their chili cheese dogs,” said Hagop Giragossian who founded Dog Haus along with partners Quasim Riaz and André Vener. “John Galardi was at the forefront of turning chili dogs in to an American staple. We have the utmost respect and admiration for him and are saddened to hear of his passing. His legacy lives on.”
Galardi started his career working at Taco Tia with Taco Bell founder Glen Bell in Pasadena in 1961 before launching his own fast food empire.
