Rep. Schiff denounces Republican filibuster of gun violence prevention legislation

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), a former federal prosecutor and member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, released the following statement denouncing the Republican attempts to filibuster gun violence prevention legislation:
“After the terrible gun tragedies this country has been through, it is incomprehensible that a group of Senate Republicans is standing in the way of an up or down vote on common sense gun safety legislation supported by an overwhelming majority of the American people. The families of the children murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary and the families of the thousands of Americans killed every year by gun violence deserve a vote, and every member of Congress should have the courage to stand up, rather than hiding behind a filibuster threat.
“I hope that they come to their senses, and realize that these issues are too important to all Americans to deny a vote.”
