High Winds Keep Officials Alert

CITY OFFICIALS MONITORING WIND SITUATION; EMERGENCY NUMBERS PROVIDED

Pasadena Officials are keeping a close eye on the projected windy conditions expected to blow through the San Gabriel Valley area Monday and Tuesday. As of 12:00 p.m., PDT, April 8, no wind-related issues have occurred in Pasadena. Stronger winds are expected late Monday night, possibly into Tuesday. There is no Red Flag alert at this time.

Pasadena Water and Power customers with any power emergencies should call (626) 744-4673. For water-related emergencies, call (626) 744-4138. For online weather information from NWS, go to Weather updates can be found online at www.weather.gov/losangeles.

If you encounter a downed or damaged tree in the public right-of-way, call (626) 744-4321 from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or, after hours and weekends, call the Pasadena Police Department non-emergency number at (626) 744-4241. Always call 9-1-1 if you have a life-threatening emergency of any kind, including any downed power lines.

The public can also download a free app offered by the City, our “Citizen Service Center” found online at www.cityofpasadena.net/CSC/ so that they can use their smart phones and tablets to report a variety of problems or issues.

Meanwhile, emergency officials recommend residents should secure any outdoor furniture and other belongings to prevent them from being damaged or possibly blown around in gusty conditions. Pets should be secured in a safe place too.

Pasadena’s Public Safety officials also wish to remind everybody to be prepared for emergencies by staying alert to your surroundings and situation. Make sure you know where your emergency supplies and get-away kits are for all family members and pets. Keep an extra flashlight near all beds in case a power outage occurs at night.
