Funds will help make Arcadia, Duarte and Monrovia stronger communities for residents

Every day, the Santa Anita Family YMCA welcomes hundreds of neighbors and is the gathering place for the community. Kids pour in after school to play and do homework. Teens develop the character traits they will need to be successful adults. Seniors connect with one another through exercise classes and group activities. Families learn how to be healthy and grow together. To ensure that the Y can continue to provide residents of Arcadia, Duarte and Monrovia with life enhancing services, the YMCA is launching its annual community support campaign.
As a trusted nonprofit focused on strengthening our community, financial gifts to the Y will help advance programming and services that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. More importantly, gifts to the Santa Anita Family YMCA stay in the community, having a direct impact on residents right here in Arcadia, Duarte and Monrovia.
“Through our community support campaign, we want to educate people that we are more than a place to go to exercise or swim, but an organization that does vital work thanks to the support of the community,” said Damon Colaluca, Executive Director, Santa Anita Family YMCA. “The Y contributes to improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods through a variety of ways that benefit all of us who live and work in the San Gabriel Valley.”
Last year, financial support made it possible for 1,200 kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence; for 900 teens to increase their civic engagement and develop life skills; for 1,500 families to reconnect and grow together; and 1,100 neighbors fight obesity and extend their quality of life.
This year, the Santa Anita Family YMCA hopes to raise $80,000 in its Community Support Campaign. Funds raised will support efforts to combat obesity and diabetes, improve student success and civic engagement and provide families with support and access to solutions.
The Y’s Community Support Campaign kick-off event will take place on Thursday, January 10th at 5:00 and will feature inspiration, fellowship and fun.
