

A man died early Wednesday following a shooting, according to Pasadena Police Commander Chris Russ.
Officials received a report of gunshots heard about 12:10 a.m. in the area of Newport Avenue and Stanton Street, according to Russ.
Officers located the victim nearby and called for paramedics for a gunshot wound. The victim, an African American male in his early 20’s, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The suspect is described only as a African American male in is late teens to early 20’s.
The victim’s name was not released pending confirmation that his family had been notified, coroner’s officials said. He was initially believed to be a Pasadena resident.
Detectives were on scene Wednesday morning inverviewing witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
