Approximately 1,000 young women (and a couple of young men) from Pasadena and surrounding cities took part in the Royal Court tryouts at Tournament House Saturday and Monday. It will be up to the Tournament judges to select a smaller group for the final court and then the final court from which one will emerge 2013 Rose Queen.
On Jan. 1 the 2013 Rose Queen and Royal Court will reign over the 124th Rose Parade themed “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” and the 99th Rose Bowl Game.
The tryouts were especially difficult this year due to triple digit heat on Saturday but the girls didn’t seem to mind that musc with such an opportunity before them.
This years theme ‘Oh, the Places you’ll Go’ honors Grand Marshal Jane Goodall.
The Queen & Court Finals are on Oct. 4, with the Royal Court announcement Oct. 8. The Rose Queen will be announced Oct. 16 and the Coronation Ceremony is set for Oct. 25.
