Arcadia PD
Sunday, August 12:
Around 3:42 p.m., an officer responded to Sephora at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a theft report. An adult suspect concealed various items inside her purse and exited the store without making payment. The 21-year-old Chinese female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 9:12 p.m., an officer made contact with a male adult who was seen carrying a beer can as he loitered behind the Art Institute of Arcadia, 17 East Huntington Drive. The officer discovered the subject was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The 45-year-old Hispanic male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, August 13:
At about 9:03 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a tan Yukon for expired registration tags, in the 3000 block of East Colorado Boulevard. A records check revealed the driver was never issued a license. The 42-year-old Hispanic male was cited, released in the field, and his vehicle was left legally parked.
Around 8:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic collision at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and the eastbound 210 freeway onramp. When party-one came to a stop for the red light on southbound Baldwin Avenue, he was struck from behind by party-two. An investigation revealed party-two was unable to stop in time because he was speeding. No injuries were reported.
Tuesday, August 14:
Shortly after 12:40 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a theft report. A male suspect grabbed a bundle of clothes worth over $4,000 and exited the store without making payment. He was seen entering a white sedan, possibly a KIA, which fled northbound on Baldwin Avenue. The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 18-years-old, 5’5” tall, with short black spiky hair, wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The incident was recorded on video surveillance.
At about 8:15 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration on First Avenue at Alta Street. An investigation revealed the driver was never issued a license and was in possession of methamphetamine. The 51-year-old White male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Wednesday, August 15:
At almost 2:00 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle run a stop sign through the intersection of Naomi Avenue and Golden West Road. Upon contact with the driver, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and person. An investigation revealed the driver was under the influence and was in possession of a controlled substance. The 37-year-old White male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud report. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) used her credit card account to buy flights to Panama City. The victim had her credit card in her possession at the time of the report and had no idea how her information was compromised.
Thursday, August 16:
Around 1:08 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive, in regards to a report of possible child abuse. A one-year-old girl was transported to the hospital by her father and grandmother after she fell out of a window and broke her leg. An investigation revealed the infant pushed through a window screen while nobody was watching. Doctors determined the injury was a result of an accident, and the Department of Child and Family Services discovered no signs of abuse or neglect.
At approximately 12:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a laundry theft report. The victim explained he left several loads of clothes unattended while they were washing in the communal laundry room and discovered them missing a short time later. He had no idea who took his clothes and no one reported seeing or hearing anything suspicious.
Friday, August 17:
At about 9:50 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Hampton Road regarding a commercial burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a residential construction site, stole numerous tools worth over $2,000, and fled undetected. The officer dusted for latent fingerprints but found none.
At almost 8:41 p.m., an officer responded to JCPenney at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a theft investigation. Two female adults, both sisters, concealed merchandise inside used shopping bags and exited the store without making payment. An investigation revealed they also stole from Macy’s. The 27 and 21-year-old Hispanic females were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Saturday, August 18:
At about 4:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a broken tail light in the area of Second Avenue and Santa Clara Street. The officer discovered the driver was on parole and in possession of methamphetamine. The 43-year-old Hispanic male was arrested, transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking, and placed on a parole hold.
Shortly after 6:26 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Longden Avenue regarding a report of a suspicious male subject who was vandalizing a neighbor’s house. An investigation revealed the subject attempted to vandalize his ex-girlfriend’s house; however, he did not realize he was at the wrong location. A records check revealed the 45-year-old Hispamic male had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monrovia PD
Residential Burglary
On August 6 at 8:24 p.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of Orange regarding a residential burglary that occurred sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. An unknown suspect(s) broke a rear window to gain entry. The home was ransacked, but there was no loss. Investigation continuing.
Theft from a Vehicle
On August 7 at 11:19 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of East Walnut. The theft occurred between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The victim’s vehicle was parked in the carport, adjacent to the alley. The loss was a purse and the vehicle stereo. Investigation continuing
Vehicle Burglary
On August 8 at 9:51 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 600 block of South Canyon. The burglary occurred between 9:00 p.m. on August 7 and 6:00 a.m. on August 8. The victim’s vehicle was parked in the driveway. The suspect(s) gained entry by an unknown means. There were no signs of forced entry. A knife, sunglasses, and a phone charger were stolen. Investigation continuing.
Indecent Exposure – Suspect Arrested
August 9 at 6:20 a.m., a female resident reported a male subject near the intersection of Palm and Primrose exposing and fondling himself. An officer responded and detained the suspect, and the female reporting party completed a private person’s arrest. The suspect was taken into custody and was later released on citation.
At 6:15 a.m. the next day, the female resident observed the same male subject again exposing and fondling himself at the same intersection of Palm and Primrose. An officer arrived and apprehended the male suspect. Another private person’s arrest was completed. Charges of indecent exposure will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office.
The suspect is described as an adult male Black, 5 foot 8 inches tall, 235 pounds, and approximately 30 years old. If anyone has witnessed a similar crime in the area, please contact the Monrovia Police Department Detective Bureau at (626) 256-8041.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
August 10 at 10:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of West Lemon regarding a man choking a woman. When officers arrived, the female victim told them her live-in fiancé had choked her and hit her, then left the location. She had visible bruises on her face, arms and legs. She told the officers it was the second time he had hit her in the past week, but she did not report the first incident. An area check was made for the suspect; he was located, detained and ultimately arrested. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
August 11 at 2:23 a.m., a vehicle that was traveling south on Alta Vista, turned east onto Cypress and lost control. The driver veered the vehicle toward the north curb and stopped. He then accelerated and managed to turn the vehicle toward the south curb, where it collided with a parked vehicle. Officers arrived and determined the driver to be intoxicated; he was arrested for driving under the influence.
Vehicle Burglary
August 12 at 3:59 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of West Lemon. The victim parked and locked his Toyota 4Runner in the gated garage complex of his residence in the evening. He returned to his vehicle the next day at about 3:00 p.m. and found his vehicle was open. Miscellaneous items were taken. No damage was done to the vehicle. Investigation continuing.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
August 13 at 4:09 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of South Myrtle regarding a non-injury traffic collision. When they arrived, they discovered a solo motorist had collided into four unoccupied parked vehicles. Through investigation, the officers determined the motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft From a Vehicle
August 13 at 12:44 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of Stedman. The victim parked her vehicle in front of her residence at 4:00 p.m., but does not remember is she locked it. She returned to her vehicle at 8:00 a.m. the next morning and found her car was open. Her wallet and a laptop computer were taken. Investigation continuing.
Medical Assist
August 14 at 6:25 a.m., officers responded to the report of a man down and unresponsive at Shamrock and Palm. Officers located the man, who had been out walking his dog, and started first aid. They used an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to revive the subject. Monrovia Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene and took over. The victim was taken to a hospital and was later reported to be in stable condition.
Vehicle Burglary
August 14 at 11:55 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 400 block of South Mayflower. The victim parked his car on the street in front of his home late in the evening. He went out to his vehicle the next day and found the doors were ajar. The victim thought he locked the car after he parked it. The loss is unknown. Investigation continuing.
Vehicle Tampering
August 14 at 1:23 p.m., a vehicle tampering was reported in the 600 block of East Walnut. The victim went to her car in the morning and started the engine. She noticed that it sounded different. When she checked the vehicle, she found half of a potato stuffed in her exhaust pipe. Investigation continuing.
Possession of Stolen Property – Suspects Arrested
August 15 at 4:35 p.m., the victim of a recent theft from his vehicle in the 400 block of South Mayflower reported to police that his credit card had just been used to purchase a DVD. An officer viewed surveillance video from the business and immediately recognized the suspect. He located the suspect, interviewed him, and found he still had stolen property from the vehicle in his possession.
The interview led to a vacant home in the 300 block of West Olive, where another suspect was located. This suspect was also found to be in possession of stolen property from the vehicle, along with a used methamphetamine pipe. Both male suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Hot-Prowl Burglary
August 14 at 6:05 p.m., officers responded to a hot-prowl burglary at a residence in the 500 block of West Duarte. A female friend of the resident was in the apartment bathroom when she heard suspicious noises. The bathroom door suddenly opened and she saw a male suspect. The suspect fled upon seeing the female through the front door. The female friend waited until the resident returned home before they notified police, approximately 20 minutes. It appears the suspect removed a window screen to enter through an unlocked window. There was no loss. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, early 20’s, 5’8” to 5’10”, muscular build, wearing a black t-shirt and carrying a dark backpack. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
August 15 at 6:59 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of East Walnut. The theft occurred sometime between 6:00 p.m. on August 14 and 1:00 p.m. on August 15. The vehicle is a silver, 2005 Toyota Camry. Investigation continuing.
Sierra Madre PD
Thursday, August 16
At 12:05am an officer stopped a vehicle with an inoperable headlight at Foothill Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue. The officer soon determined that the driver was on probation for robbery and ordered all 4 occupants out of the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle the officer found a loaded .38 caliber revolver on the rear floorboard, an open container of beer and a baggy containing marijuana. A male, 32 years of age and a female 19 years of age were arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. It was later determined that the male is an active member of the South Side Pasa Gang.
Saturday, August 18
Earlier this month, Sierra Madre residents moved to a new home in Monrovia. As they packed, they placed important documents and jewelry in a separate bag that they intended to transport personally to the new address. However they accidentally left this bag inside an item of furniture that was subsequently moved by employees of a moving company they hired. Days later, while unpacking, the owners discovered the some of the jewelry was missing from the bag.
Sunday, August 19
Units responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 100 block of Esperanza Avenue. The investigation revealed that a verbal argument had taken place between two parties at the location. This escalated into a physical altercation in which one party grabbed the other and pushed her. The victim requested a private persons arrest for the misdemeanor and a male, 52 years of age was arrested for battery.
