HOT WEATHER ALERT
…HOT TEMPERATURES BRING ELEVATED FIRE RISK
A strong upper level high pressure system centered over the great
Basin will bring hot weather to interior portions of southwest
California through much of this week. Triple digit heat can be
Expected today across the antelope valley…with high temperatures
Near or slightly above 100 degrees in the warmest locations
In the mountains…the santa clarita valley…northern and western
Portions of the san fernando valley and the ojai valley. The hot
Temperatures combined with very low humidities will bring elevated
Fire weather concerns to to interior portions of southwest
California today.
It appears that the peak of the heat wave will occur Tuesday
Through Wednesday when the following high temperatures are
Expected…
Valleys…………………92-105 degrees.
Lower mountains………….90-105 degrees.
Antelope valley………….100-107 degrees.
As the upper level flow turns southeasterly…some monsoonal moisture
Will likely be drawn into interior portions of southern california.
This will result in a slight chance of afternoon and evening
Thunderstorms across the mountains of los angeles…ventura and
Eastern santa barbara counties and antelope valley wednesday
Through friday. Continued hot conditions combined with the threat of
Lightning will maintain elevated fire weather concerns across the
Mountains and antelope valley through much of the week.
Persons planning to be outdoors early next week should practice heat
Safety tips. Keep your body hydrated with plenty of water and avoid
Strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
