Sunday, June 24:
Around 2:15 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a red Mustang for making an illegal u-turn on Huntington Drive, at Gateway Drive. A records check revealed the driver had a suspended license. The 21-year-old Hispanic male was cited, released in the field, and his vehicle was stored.
At approximately 6:22 a.m., officers were dispatched to a non-injury solo traffic collision in the area of Peck Road and Clark Street. An investigation revealed the driver went unconscious for an unknown reason and veered to the right, causing him to collide with a light pole, an electrical pole, and a tree. In order to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor, the driver was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for blood testing. The results were unknown at the time of the report.
Monday, June 25:
At about 10:28 a.m., an officer responded to the 1700 block of Orangewood Lane regarding an attempted residential burglary that had just occurred. The victim observed an unknown male walking through her backyard and hurried to lock any unsecured areas. As she entered her daughter’s bedroom, she discovered the suspect was attempting to climb through a window she left open. The suspect saw the victim and fled toward an awaiting suspect vehicle, described as a light green or silver four-door sedan with two female occupants. He entered the driver’s seat and fled southbound on Orangewood Lane. He is described as Hispanic, approximately 20-years-old, 5’6” tall, 140 lbs., with short brown hair and a thin mustache, wearing a black and white striped polo-shirt. Officers conducted an area check but met with negative results.
At about 11:00 p.m., an officer located a vehicle with a warrant attached to the license plate, on Colorado Boulevard at Rosemead Boulevard. An investigation revealed the driver had an expired license and registration, and was in possession of methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed one of the passengers had an outstanding felony warrant for attempted murder and a misdemeanor warrant. The 31-year-old Hispanic male driver and 21-year-old Hispanic male passenger were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, June 26:
At approximately 3:10 p.m., an officer responded to H&M at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a theft report. A juvenile suspect concealed items inside a used shopping bag and exited the store without making payment. An investigation revealed the juvenile’s adult cousin directed her to steal the merchandise. The 14-year-old Vietnamese female and her cousin were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The juvenile was later released to her mother.
Around 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walgreen’s, 140 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a theft report. Employees observed a female subject acting suspicious as she shopped for products. Once the employees turned their backs, the suspect fled the store with a basket full of merchandise. She entered a white Hyundai sedan, which fled southbound on Tyler Avenue. The incident was recorded on video surveillance.
Wednesday, June 27:
At about 1:30 p.m., an officer responded to the 2000 block of Winthrop Avenue regarding an attempted residential burglary report. The victim heard noise coming from her sliding door and walked toward it thinking her husband had come home from work. However, she discovered the door ajar and observed an unknown Hispanic male walking towards a turquoise minivan parked in her driveway. She noticed a Hispanic male in the driver seat and watched the suspect enter the passenger seat. They fled eastbound on Las Tunas Drive.
At approximately 9:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 99 Cent Store, 414 South Second Avenue, regarding a theft report. Two customers left their bicycles outside the store and discovered they were missing a short time later. Both victims left their property unsecured and unattended.
Thursday, June 28:
Shortly after 8:10 p.m., an officer responded to JCPenney at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in regards to a female adult in custody for theft. The suspect exited the store without making payment for the merchandise she concealed in her purse. The 25-year-old Black female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Around 9:20 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a broken tail light, on Baldwin Avenue at Gate 7. An investigation revealed the driver had a suspended license and one outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The 41-year-old Black male was arrested, transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking, and his vehicle was stored.
Friday, June 29:
At about 10:49 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorized bicycle for not having a license plate, in the area of El Dorado Street and Fifth Avenue. The officer discovered the driver was a wanted person out of the City of Glendora. The 42-year-old male of unknown race was detained and transported to the Arcadia City Jail where he was later picked up by the Glendora Police Department for booking.
Around 10:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to AMC Theater at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a battery report. A group of eight female adults got into a fight over front row seats for the movie “Magic Mike”. An investigation revealed one subject became so upset that she punched another subject in the face numerous times. The victim was not desirous of prosecution.
Saturday, June 30:
Shortly after 1:05 a.m., officers made contact with a black Mercedes sedan parked in the rear parking lot of Santa Anita Inn, 130 West Santa Anita Avenue. A records check revealed the passenger had an outstanding felony warrant and was in possession of drug paraphernalia, fraudulent prescriptions, and stolen property including access cards, identification cards, and checks. The 45-year-old White female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 7:27 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a critical missing person report. The reporting party explained his possibly suicidal daughter had been missing since the evening of June 29th. He explained that his daughter had a history of psychological issues and suffered from depression. The 26-year-old Asian female was last seen driving away in her father’s vehicle, wearing a brown shirt, blue jeans, and sunglasses. At the time of the report, Horikawa was entered in the Missing Persons System, and local hospitals and area law enforcement were alerted.
The following day on July 1st, the daughter was located at a hospital in the City of Montebello. She was placed on a 72-hour hold and removed from the Missing Persons System.

Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On June 28 at 5:19 p.m., security personnel from a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain called to report they had a male suspect in custody for shoplifting. The suspect admitted to going to the location to steal merchandise. A pat-down search of the suspect revealed a key for a vehicle. Officers checked the parking lot and located the vehicle, and additional stolen property was found. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
On June 29 at 10:05 a.m., an officer responded to the 1500 block of California regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim reported that someone broke into his vehicle sometime during the night and took property from his vehicle. He had parked and locked his vehicle, but left the driver’s side window open approximately one and a half inches. It appears the suspect used this opening to unlock the vehicle and gain entry. Investigation continuing.
Strong-Arm Robbery
On June 29 at 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Colorado regarding a strong-arm robbery. The victim was at the Monrovia Street Fair sitting on a curb when a male suspect in his twenties, unknown race, wearing a black baseball cap, black shirt and tan shorts, ran by the victim, grabbed her purse from her and fled. The suspect ran east on Colorado. Several witnesses ran after the suspect, but were unable to catch him. The victim waited approximately 30 minutes before reporting the incident to police and the witnesses left the area prior to police arrival. The investigation is continuing.
